Salty
“Hollow-eyed, pale-cheeked, flat-breasted all; they brood their lives away, unspurred by ambition: the sun shines for them, but they do not see it: the earth offers them its fullness, but they desire it not; all their desire is to renoucne and to suffer that they may come to die.”
Whoa, doesn’t that sound like a fun group? This statement was made by emperor Julian who followed emporer Constantine (Constantine made Christianity the religion of the Roman empire). He was lamenting the good ole days when life used to have some good in it, longing again to be an “unchristian” nation.
I wonder if there is some parallel in what we are seeing in America today. Our founding forfathers fought and died to insure we could live out our Christian values, they obviously thought there was something there worth fighting for, something good. Today, our magazines are echoeing our political leaders: “America is not a Christian nation”. Hmm. Why wouldnt we want to be a christian nation? Wasn’t life good?
Matt 5:13“Let me tell
you why you are here. You’re here to be salt-seasoning that brings out
the God-flavors of this earth. If you lose your saltiness, how will
people taste godliness? You’ve lost your usefulness and will end up in
the garbage.
Hi! Thanks for visiting my blog today! I love visiting the Grace Fellow sites… thanks for posting! The sermons on friendship have been great!
I stumbled (by divine appointment
on a wonderful site that’s worth sharing … It’s called “A Holy Experience.”

Ann Voskamp is the author. She is an incredible photographer and author. I visit her site daily ~ She humbly has her comments disabled… but last week for two days she opened her comments to let the “community” of people who visit her site “congregate.” There were almost 500 comments left!
Thanks for all you do at Grace! Blessings ~Maria
