Finding Time to Improve
Well, a week has gone by and I have had many thoughts, but little time to write them down.
There is so much to do and not enough people to do it. I find myself trying to complete so many tasks that I am not spending the time I would like on any of them – which of course leads to a lower level of quality.
This brings to light something that will be critical going forward. Guest Services needs more volunteers, but not many people are stepping up. Guest Services is adequate today, but it is not “great”. It will require more volunteer and a few exceptional leaders to make Guest Services great. Everyone wants to be part of something that is great and few people are attracted to invest their time in something that is just adequate, so the cycle continues until a change is made. This is systems theory in its simplest form.
What to do?
I am hoping to spend some quality time this week thinking and seeking insight on how to proceed with Guest Services. I believe we can provide a service that will leave a lasting first impression, so when people leave they say “Wow, I really feel like they cared!”.
More to come ….
